Ideas for the new blog!!!!

WritopiaLab writers, we are going to blog! Why? Because... blogging not only allows us to express the joys and dramas surrounding our lives as writers, but it allows us to share those thoughts and feelings with our peers throughout the city, the country, and even the world.

Participating in the blog is not a workshop requirement, however, we are a new community, so 2007 Summer Workshop Participants have the chance to have great impact on the feel and flavor of the new blog.

Let me know what you think of these ideas:

1) We will take turns blogging throughout the summer.

2) It is important to me that we have reliable weekly topics. What ideas do you have for this? What do you want to write about? What do you think other young writers want to read about?

For example (these are all rough ideas, accept for (a)):

a) Every Monday, one of you will blog about your personal experiences regarding the Iraq/U.S. Writing Exchange;
b) Every Tuesday one of you may blog about challenges you confront while writing;
c) Every Wednesday one of you may blog about the best short story/book/or article you ever read;
d) Every Thursday one of you may blog about the best writing exercises.
e) Every Friday I will blog about sum'thn.

Post thoughts below.

:-)

I think that if done properly, blogging can be a great way to unite us all as young writers. I especially like the idea of us writing about what hinders us most while writing, because we all have our insecurities as writers, and especially, as younger ones, therefore writing about what challenges us humanizes us all. After we can acknowledge that we are all on equal playing ground, we can learn to help each other, and just as Rebecca said, we will truly be our own microcosmical community.

I like that idea, too. I think writing publicly about challenges will be a really helpful and connecting part of the blog. For those of you who don't know, Nico attends Brookyln Tech, will be entering his junior year in September, and will be taking an afternoon writing workshop in the middle of July. BTW, I would love to hear other blogging topic ideas as well.
